Students' Review of the Movie FACE/OFF
Review of Face Off
If you have a chance to "change your face to someone", Are you willing to do it?Almost all people aren't satisfied with their face so if they could have a chance to do that, maybe they would do it.As we know about technology, that is surely impossible. But, according to the movie "Face off" that is possible. After watching that movie, I'm really impressed and I think about the danger of technology.In particular, I'm very impressed with the scene when Sean and Castor fight between the mirror. I think that scene shows that if they want to kill each other, they have to shoot "mirror". The mirror shows not me, "Enemy". That means I have to shoot to my face because I have to kill enemy. That scene is really ironic and interesting to me.I'm also thinking about danger of technology. As time goes by, technology is getting develop, so many things become comfortable and better compare with before. Even though many things getting better, like as that movie shows, that have also many disadvantages. Especially we misuse technology to bad things, that menas more develop technology, easier to commit criminal. I think we have to consider about danger of technology.

Face Off
In this movie, there are two main characters.One is the boss of a gang whose name is Castor and the other is Sean a member of the FBI.They changed their faces so that they could get some very important information from the gang member.But Sean failed because Castor noticed their mission and killed all the people who know their mission.So Sean was trapped in jail because no one knows they changed their faces.Somehow he could escape from the jail.And he tried to kill Castor but it was really difficult because his face is still Castor.Later he convinced his wife and succeeded to kill Castor and he could get his face back.Fine.

I was excited when I watched this movie because it came to climaxes several times.It didn't end when I felt it was almost finished.But, I couldn't agree with the scene that Castor Troy recovered from a coma in the hospital.First, the ECG just before he revived was VT (ventricular tachycardia). It means that he almost died.Second, we never cut the human skin with electric cautery but we usually do it with a knife because a scar of a burn remains on the coaptation zone and causes keloid.I enjoyed the first half because I couldn't guess what happened next but the latter half is boring. Most of the scenes included actions. They shot each other again and again and the buildings and boats were destroyed. In my case I like to watch the scenes having some mystery in it.

Critique of "FACE OFF"
I have watched this movie many times . but everytime I watch it, I feel excited and nervous.This movie was made with incredible idea, especially when their faces were changed with each other, we were all shocked.Archer showed his high passion for his work through his decision to have that surgery with big risk.His wife even didn't recongnize him. But in many troubles, he tried to protect his family and arrest Troy.This movie had a happy ending. In addition, at the end of the movie, he kept his word with Troy's wife that she wanted his son to grow up in the way that's different with the life style of his parents.At this part, everbody might be moved by this scene when they decided to take care of the enemy's son.If I see it in negative way, it is too bloody and violent.

After watching "FACE OFF"
Do you know the two guys who switched faces in the 1997 hit film titled " Face Off"? When I met this title, I thought it's a story about plastic surgery. But this movie is a highly science fiction film.This is the first time that I has watched about moving face. So I'm curious. But the movie started, I felt it's cruel as well as dirty. As time goes by, I knew it has interesting and moving story. At the movie's climax, I felt family's love and importance of personality.If you have free time, you try to watch this movie. I recommend it.

After Watching Face Off...
It's my first time to watch Face off, and I've heard about Face off before. That time, I was not interested in watching the movie. I think I shoud have watched that time, because it was very interesting and exciting.Frankly speaking, when I watched the movie first, I was disappointed about Face off. I thought it's such an old-fashioned movie. But as the movie continued, the more interested I became.It tells us about the winning of the right, and makes us exciting. But there are some mistakes and ridiculous things.The first of all, when Castor shot Sean, why Castor killed him perfectly?The second of all, when Castor leave an area by airplane, why there was a female FBI member in The airplane? and why they don't arrest them before the airplane started to go? after that, they lost a expensive plane.The third of all, when Sean and Castor fought each other in the end of the movie, I don't understand why Sean wait Castor. I think he could shoot him, when Castor was in the church.Anyway, without these things, I think this movie is made well.

Face Off
Is it possible? Well...Actually this movie is creepy.But John Travolta and Nicolas Cage are my favorite actors. Their actings are awesome.I heard that this movie was made about 10 years ago. But it isn't old-fashioned.If my face was also changed to another face and another life, I would be nervous too.Even if it is possible I don't want to chose that situation.Many women have plastic surgery but it is very dangerous.Anyway the plastic surgery is terrible.

After Watching Face Off...

POWER SHOW June 2008
Hello readers everywhere! Here's a video of the POWERSIM students for the month of June 2008.
They did a talk show hosted by Anne and Vicky. It known as the POWER SHOW.
They had a guest, a boy band,which made a shocking revelation to the disappointment of a hysterical fan...You can also hear the big NEWS about Osama Bin SHOOT being captured and was brought to New York for his trial. He has a 5usd reward for his capture. Yes! That is right! Only 5 U.S. dollars and the rest of the group has 10 U.S. dollars reward for their arrest. They are still at large and running away from the law. They are hunted all over the world and still considered dangerous. Watch out!^.^
Anyway, congratulations to all of you studying POWERSIM. You did great and always do even greater things.

I'd like to tell you about the TV program, "Friends." Friends is a sitcom about a group of friends. It is not a serious program so when I got stressed, I watch it in order to relieve my stress. My favourite actor is Joey because he is really funny sometimes and I think he has no brain. He speaks to them without thinking.
Also, the TV sitcom was broadcasted in Korea but it is similar to Friends sitcom. Sometimes I was bored because it has the same situation and the same story. I've watched Friends again since last year to improve my English skills. First, I watch it without subtitles. I tried to understand the story but it was extremely difficult at first and then I watch it again with subtitles. When I can't listen to their conversation clearly or I don't understand, I watch it again to understand.
I think the sitcom Friends is proper for studying English because through it I can learn about American traditions, thought and language which is very useful for learning English. Therefore, if people who want to study English, I'll recommend it.

"Starcraft" league program. -Astin
When i was in Korea, i usually watch starcraft league programme. Probably almost all Korean guys know about Starcraft. There are more than three starcraft league program in Korea. The way of progress is tournament. Usually it takes three months. Also every once a year starcraft is held in other country. Many starcraft players compete for the prize. Starcraft league in Korea is usually divided in three seasons. There's spring season, summer season and winter season. And there are eight teams only for starcraft. Many large companies in Korea make their own team for starcraft. And They invest a lot of money in their own team every year. Through this fact, we can guess about the magnitude of game industry. As long as the game league program exists, Starcraft league continues.

My favorite TV program genre is soap opera. I saw 'Heroes', 'Prison break'. 'Desperate houeswives', etc... These are not only interesting but also useful to learn English. How cool!
you can kill two birds with one stone. also we can experience the U.S.A culture indirectly by watching TV program.
But many students want to see Korean subtitle when they watch soap oprea. I'd recommend no subtitle. Although it's English subtitle. If you focus on subtitle, It's reading practice, not listening any more. and try to watch soap opera everyday. Have fun!!!

AdvanTages of waTching coMedy prOgram
My favorite TV genre is comedy. Actually, when I watch TV, I don't think of anything except watching news. I want to take a rest while I'm watching TV. Therefore, I like watching comedy programs. It gives me fun especially when I'm tired. I don't need to concentrate on watching TV, but I can enjoy it. In these programs, they use simple English words, so if you are not good at English, you can understand those easily and accurately. Let's try watching comedy programs together!!

Osama Bin Shoot, leader of the P.S.I.M terrorists who was the main culprit of 911terrorist attack was arrested 30minutes ago here in Cebu, Philippines.
After 2001, he who has disappeared has taught English to Korean students for 7years. According to His neighbors and co-workers’ interview, they have never known that he is Osama Bin Shoot because he has lived with a shaven head for many years.
When the police arrived at the scene, he was watching an adult video with his students.

Samantha is addicted to sex and Charlotte thinks that family and baby are the most important value in the world.
There are various stories there, you can't feel any boredom there.
And it has a lot of useful expressions so it's also good to study English.

Our Drama, Our Life.
'Desperate Wives' is the one of popular series' in America. By thinking about the reason, we can get the function of T.V programs as a media. Sometimes people think being a housewife is the easiest job in the world,
But in that drama, in terms of not only physically but mentally, do they have happy lives? I think all of them have troubles. Even one of the wives, who committed suicide, was not able to notice what the problem is, and there is no visible trouble in her life. They didn't realize they have something wrong in their lives. They are still busy managing the house chores. But it gives us something to think about. What is the hidden matter in our life? I'm not talking about feminism term. In that drama, they might want to talk about that. But in general, I want to say that T.V programs involve the social problem we have to reconsider. Indirectly and directly, T.V programs have meaningful elements, wheather it is valuable or not. What I mean is, it affects the audience by gathering empathy by showing the social problems in our real life. T.V programs can be continued, especailly the drama series. In conclusion, T.V programs reflect our lives that have so many troubles. Sometimes it gives us advices and empathies. Somehow our life is also a kind of drama, and we are the actors who are looking for the solution.
